Get rid of eyeglasses painlessly - FemtoLasik®
Refractive surgery has advanced with great leaps from the beginning of the 1990s. The intervention is basically the same, but huge development of methods, surgical techniques and equipment have improved the procedure including its safety, comfort and outcome.
The latest state-of-the-art technology is the femtosecond laser. It has revolutionized the operation in helping to get rid of the mechanical eye-cutting blade. Before this development, the corneal flap, necessary for the correction of refractive errors, was made using a microlathe. The actual corrective laser intervention is performed under the flap.
We were the first to adopt the femtosecond laser in Finland. Now we can perform the entire refractive correction without a cutting process. Our new procedure is called FemtoLasik. It combines our extensive experience, robust knowhow and leading-edge technology: a Swiss femtosecond laser and a superfast Wavelight Concerto 500 Hz Eye-Q laser.
Our experience from the new method is excellent in terms of the operation, accuracy of outcome and patient response. Even before this new approach, 99 % of people wearing minus glasses (myopia or nearsightedness) and over 80 % of people wearing plus glasses (hyperopia or farsightedness) who were operated in the years 2002 to 2005, got permanently rid of glasses.
